ON CULTIVATION AND WEAVERS WOES

Poetry Cultivated and Woven The farmer and then the weaver....... both are the important per-sons for any nation. The farmer provides food and the latter clothing to the nation. The primary and the foremost things of existence for a human be-ing are 'roti, kapda aur makaan'. The farmer is the 'roti-wala' and the weaver is the kapda-wala. If both these preliminaries are satisfied, people can be safely nurtured and sheltered to lead a comfortable life whereever they exist. Perhaps this may be the reason for Dr. Ramesh Narayana who has undertaken this literary task and retold the two long poems on the farmer and the weaver in two parts of his present work- 'On Cultivation and Weavers Woes'. Part-I, "On Cultivation' is an English version of Prof. Rachapalem Chandrasekhar Reddy's long poem in Telugu, 'Poli', the content of which is on agriculture. Part-II, on Weavers Woes is that of Dr. Vummadisetty Radheya's long poem in Telugu, 'Maggam Bathuku', with its content on weaving and its associated problems. Both these well known Telugu literary works are interestingly taken up by Dr. P. Ramesh Narayana into one, to the readers convenience, where in he tried to render them judiciously as trans-creations rather than mere translations in English.
