ABOUT THE BOOK & THE AUTHOR This is a collection of problems that have been set recently during oral and written examinations at higher schools in the USSR. More than a hundred and twenty institutions have contributed including all the Universities. The authors of the book have for many years helped set the entrance examinations in Mathematics at Moscow State University and at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Engineering. They have also lectured in the television courses broadcast to help students revise for the entrance examinations to higher educational establishments. The material they have gathered and their experience is the basis for this collection of problems. This book is useful to Mathematics Students and Lecturers of Indian Universities also.
